<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an uninterruptible power supply unit and a method for interrupting the uninterruptible power supply unit, independently determining a fault of the own unit and selectively interrupting within a time shorter than one cycle of AC output. <P>SOLUTION: The interruptible power supply unit converts DC voltage into AC voltage and supplies the converted AC voltage to a load device. The unit has a control section 4 for identifying a resistance value of an internal resistor 23 as an internal impedance of the own device by using an instantaneous value of a voltage and a current in the own device and capturing an abnormal variation of the value to determine a fault.
