<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair type massage machine having a therapy element having structure excellent in durability and cost performance and having hardness at a human body abutting part which can be made different. <P>SOLUTION: In the massage machine 1a provided with a seat part 12a and a backrest part 11a having a pair of therapy elements 311a, the therapy element 311a is constituted of a circular therapy element roller whose hardness at the human body abutting part is different at respective parts. Also, the therapy element 311 is switched to the position of different hardness by a hardness switching mechanism 38a on the basis of the detection value of a detection means for detecting the state of the human body abutting part.
