PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting insert capable of sufficiently rounding chips and easily cutting them, smoothly and reliably performing a chip processing, and elongating a life. SOLUTION: A cutting blade part 2 is formed at a longitudinal end of an insert body 1 in a form of a shaft, and the cutting blade part 2 has a pair of lateral cutting blades 3 extending along a longitudinal direction, and a front cutting blade 4 arranged between tips of the lateral cutting blade 3 and extending in a width direction orthogonal to a longitudinal direction, and is provided with a rectangular rake face 6 directed to a thickness direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction and the width direction. Inclined faces 14 gradually retreated in the thickness direction toward the outside from the inside of the insert body 1 along the longitudinal direction are formed at both ends in the width direction of the rake face 6. A recessed part 12 retreating toward the thickness direction from the inclined faces 14 are formed between the inclined faces 14 of the rake face 6, and a linear ridge part 14A extending toward the longitudinal direction are formed at an inside portion along the width direction of the inclined faces 14.
