The plant has a cracking furnace with a split tube comprising a helically wound section (1) and/or a quenching tube with the helical wound section for cooling. The quenching tube stays in flow connection with the split tube for stopping reaction. Amplitude (A) of a helix in the helical section of the split tube and/or the quenching tube is more than 0.5-times and less than 1.5 times of the diameter (D) of the split tube and/or the quenching tube. The split tube and/or the quenching tube is helically wound over entire length, where the number of turns per meter is constant or variable. An independent claim is also included for a method for splitting a hydrocarbonaceous element.
