Dosing device (100) comprises a media container (10) with an outlet (12) for a medium (14) being metered and a gas inlet (16), a pressure source (20) for applying a gas pressure to the gas inlet so that a gas (22) passes into the media container during movement of the medium from the outlet, a flow sensor (25) for acquiring a measured value of the gas flowing through the gas inlet and an evaluation unit (30) for determining a displaced amount of the medium being metered based on the measured value. An independent claim is also included for a dosing method using the above device. Preferred Features: The gas pressure is an overpressure. The device has a pressure regulating valve (40) for regulating the gas pressure at the gas inlet. The pressure regulating valve constantly maintains the gas pressure to up to 5% of the theoretical pressure.
