PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated seed having excellent fixing properties, and hardly causing runoff of the seed even when the seed is sown on a hillside such as particularly a slope when the seed for a greening plant is sown in a habitat of weeds, to provide a method for producing the coated seed, to provide the coated seed having a high germination percentage, and achieving formation of a good green land even when the seed is sown under environments unstable for raising the plant such as the slope, and to provide the method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The coated seed is obtained by forming coating layers using clay mineral powder comprising attapulgite, and a higher fatty acid comprising calcium stearate. In the process, the plurality of coating layers are formed to change the composition of a granulating agent in the different layers and thereby improve the adhesiveness of the seed to the coating layers.
