PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for processing a digitized image having pixels, which have enhanced flexibility concerning encoding of the image and which require calculation power more reduced than well known methods. SOLUTION: Disclosed is a method for processing a digitized image having pixels, which is characterized by: (a) grouping the pixels into image blocks; (b) dividing the image into at least one first image object and second image object and allocating at least one image block to at least one portion of an edge of the first image object; and (c) allocating information concerning the image object to at least one image block.
