<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for recognizing the track formed in a sensitized material layer in a short time. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The track recognition device includes: a picking-up means continuously picking up a sensitized material layer with the depth of the focal face changing to obtain a plurality of tomographic images; an accumulation means acquiring the distribution of indexes indicating existence of tracks by overlapping the plurality of tomographic images while shifting them by a shift quantity according to the angle of the track; a specifying means specifying the position and the angle of the track from the distribution of the indexes at each track angle; and a position adjusting means adjusting the relative position between the sensitized material layer and the picking-up means in the direction along the picking-up face. The picking-up means includes a plurality of picking-up elements arranged along the picking-up face, and the interval between the visual fields of adjacent picking-up elements is set to be smaller than the width of the visual field of the picking-up element. After the picking-up means obtains the plurality of tomographic images, the position adjusting means adjusts the relative position between the sensitized material layer and the picking-up means so that new visual field involves the area between the visual fields which are picked up just before.
