<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for extracting pigment of purple sea urchin and for dyeing thereby silk etc. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method comprises taking out thorns of purple sea urchin by cutting, purifying the thorns, which is then dissolved in an aqueous citric acid solution, and taking out the supernatant solution, which is then used as it is for dyeing cloth.
