PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation membrane element which enables reducing a cost of a raw material for the separation membrane element or simplifying a manufacturing process. SOLUTION: This separation membrane element includes a plurality of the laminated cylindrical or envelope-like separation membrane units 11 which are formed in such a fashion that the permeation sides or supply sides of sheet-like separation membranes 10 are mutually opposed. In addition, the separation membrane element has one end or both ends of the separation membrane unit 11 sealed with a resin sealing member 12 in the way that either the permeation side flow path or the supply side flow path 14 is opened.
