A suspension element (3) for fastening on a rail is so shaped that a carrying/supporting part (4) for the suspension element can be inserted via a longitudinal slot into a cavity on the rail in a mounted position from outside. The carrying/supporting part bridges over the longitudinal slot after movement from the mounted position into an operating position. The suspension element can be separated into the upper carrying/supporting part and a lower suspended holding part (5) fastened onto it.
