<p>A network device has a network interface circuit for connecting to a second network device. The network interface circuit provides a signal indicating the connection status. The network device is adapted to evaluate the signal indicating the connection status, and is adapted to trigger, in the case of a change of the connection status from disconnected to connected, multicasting or broadcasting of identifier information and/or information about the device type and functionalities and capabilities of the network device, or to trigger, in the case of a change of the connection status from connected to disconnected, multicasting or broadcasting of identifier information specifying the device now disconnected from the interface circuit, to other network devices in the same network.</p> |
