<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit and an image processing method for superposing graphic signals to video signals with a resolution increased by ultra-resolution upconversion while maintaining video quality. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing unit includes: an ultra-resolution upconversion means for performing ultra-resolution upconversion for restoring the video signals having second resolution higher than first resolution by inputting the video signal having the first resolution and by estimating an intrinsic pixel value from the video signals having the first resolution to increase pixels; a graphics signal generation means for generating graphics signals indicating prescribed images; and a blending means that is provided at a stage subsequent to the ultra-resolution upconversion means and is used for superposing the graphics signals on the video signals of the second resolution restored by the ultra-resolution upconversion means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
