<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system capable of accurately detecting cross leak even when the total cell voltage of a plurality of cells is detected, and to provide a method for detecting the cross leak using the same. <P>SOLUTION: When a second cell pair voltage periodically detected becomes hither than a second cell pair voltage until the preceding detection, it is judged that there is no generation of cross leak.
