<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a seat occupancy state by performing wireless communication between a transmitting coil and a receiver coil embedded in a table and detecting a radio signal variation received by the receiving coil when a tray with a metal sheet embedded therein is arranged between them. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The tray detection device detects the seat occupancy state outputted from each of the tables 1 by a table occupancy detecting element 13. The occupancy state of each of the tables 1 detected by the table occupancy detection part 13 by a display control part 18 is displayed on a display 19. With respect to the seat occupancy state of each of the tables 1, a variation of electric power generated in a receiver coil 5 generated by a magnetic field from a transmitting coil 4 installed in the table 1 is amplified by a receiving amplifier 6, and converted into a digital signal by an A-D converter 7. The converted digital signal is analyzed by a control part 2, and whether a tray 10 is put on the table 1 is detected.
