PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform appropriate processing when missing a main object, according to the state of an object other than the main object. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus (100) includes: a detection means (20) for detecting an object which satisfies a predetermined condition for each input image inputted from an imaging element; a selection means (50) for selecting the main object from the objects detected for each of the input images by the detection means; a display control means (50) for displaying an area of the main object selected by the selection means to overlap with the input image and continuing the overlapping display of the area with the input image for a predetermined time of continuance after the last selection of the main object if the main object cannot be selected by the selection means; and a setting means (50) for setting the time of continuance according to the state of the object detected by the detection means.
