SOLUTION: The surface-treated iron titanium compound oxide particle powders where the surfaces of iron titanium compound oxide particles are coated with a specific silane coupling agent of 4-16 μmol/m2, which have a mean particle diameter of 0.05-0.70 μm, which have a dispersion particle diameter d50 in toluene of 0.25-1.80 μm and which have a dispersion particle diameter d90 in toluene of 0.65-3.50 μm are obtained by being dried in a fluidized bed after the iron titanium compound oxide particles used as nuclei are hydrophobized in an aqueous medium and then being heat-treated or by simultaneously performing heat treatment and crushing in a dryer having a vibrating mechanism and having a medium such as balls and the like inside after the iron titanium compound oxide particles used as nuclei are hydrophobized in a wheel-type kneader or a milling machine.
