PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the formation of fine flaw on a washing object while having a sufficient washing property to soil on a level of a general household. SOLUTION: A washing cloth 5 has a flexible erecting bristle layer 3 for washing, which consists of a group of cut piles 3a, formed on one surface of the surface/back face of a ground fabric 4, wherein an initial compressive stress index (mgf/number), which is calculated by dividing a compressive stress (mgf/cm<SP>2</SP>(wherein 1 mgf/cm<SP>2</SP>=1×10<SP>-6</SP>kgf/cm<SP>2</SP>)) when the thickness size is reduced by 0.3 mm by a compressive force in the thickness direction, by a monofilament density (number/cm<SP>2</SP>) of the erecting bristle layer 3, is defined as 0.1-15.0.
