The device (10) has an electro-optical display element (12) i.e. LCD element, including a circular edge, and an encompassing frame (24) including a press-on guide (26) and surrounding the edge. A position fixing bar (20) is movable between a fixing position in which the bar is pressed for fixing the display element against the edge, and an idle position in which the bar is not pressed against the edge. The press-on guide is pressed for conveying the bar to the fixing position. The bar is formed on a retaining frame surrounding the display element.
