<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a carbonyl compound by oxidizing an alcohol, highly efficiently producing the same even in an easily handleable solvent. <P>SOLUTION: The method of producing a carbonyl compound includes a process of oxidizing an alcohol in the presence of a compound represented by formula (I) or a salt thereof and an oxidizing agent at least in one species of solvent selected from the group consisting of an acetate solvent and a cyanoalkane solvent. In the formula, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>each independently represents a hydrogen atom, a nitro group, a halogen atom, a carboxylic acid group, a sulfonic acid group, an alkyl group that may contain a substituent or an alkoxy group that may contain a substituent, provided that R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>together with a pair of adjacent carbon atoms may form an aromatic ring. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
