Ž<P>SOLUTION: If a user depress the input restoration key 560b, "abc" displayed in an input field AR 15 is changed into "abe". At this time, an English-Japanese dictionary is selected, and an idiom search mode is selected. Since only alphabetic characters can be input in the idiom search, a CPU searches for an input headword of a character string type "B" from the beginning of an input history table, and as a result of the search, the "abe" is displayed on the input field AR 15. Furthermore, when the input restoration key 560b is depressed, the CPU reads the input headword having the character string type "B" next to the "abe", and displays it on the input field AR 15.
