<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device, a writing device and electronic equipment in which writing can be reliably carried out only in a portion where the writing is required and high display contrast can be achieved. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The display device 1 includes: a display layer 3 displaying an image by applying a voltage or supplying a current; a common electrode 93 provided at one side of the display layer 3; at least one partial electrode 911 which is disposed at the other side of the display layer 3 so as to be capable of approaching and parting with respect to the display layer 3, and can apply a voltage or supply a current to some region of the display layer 3 between the partial electrode and the common electrode 93; a driving means applying a voltage or supplying a current between the common electrode 93 and the partial electrode 911; and a moving means moving the partial electrode 911 between a first position where the partial electrode 911 comes into contact with the display layer 3 and a second position where the partial electrode 911 is separated from the display layer 3.
