PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel restrained from deterioration of a protection layer or a phosphor by sufficiently removing water or impurity gas such as hydrocarbon without disturbing a discharge phenomenon. SOLUTION: The plasma display panel is provided with: a front substrate 1 including a plurality of lines of display electrodes each composed of a scanning electrode 2 and a sustaining electrode 3, a dielectric layer 4 formed to cover the display electrodes, and a protection film 5 formed on the dielectric layer 4; a back substrate 6 disposed oppositely to the front substrate 1 and including a plurality of data electrodes formed in a direction crossing the display electrodes, and a discharge cell 11 formed at each intersection part; and a black stripe 12 provided between the display electrodes of the front substrate 1. The scanning electrode 2 and the sustaining electrode 3 are aligned so that the scanning electrodes 2 and the sustaining electrodes 3 are mutually adjacent respectively between the adjacent discharge cells 11, and a hydrogen storing material 13 including palladium is disposed in a part corresponding to the black stripe 12 provided between the sustaining electrodes 3 on the protection film 5 of the front substrate 1.
