A ceramic for decorative parts is provided. The ceramic has a golden color tone, can give a sense of high quality, a feeling of aesthetic satisfaction, and spiritual serenity, is improved in mechanical characteristics including hardness and toughness, and exhibits a reduced color difference. The ceramic for decorative parts is a sintered titanium nitride body which is characterized by containing 5 to 25mass% of cobalt, 1 to 10mass% of chromium, and 0.3 to 1mass% of carbon. In the ceramic, carbon diffuses into titanium nitride to form a solid solution, which accelerates the sintering. Therefore, the ceramic is improved in mechanical characteristics including hardness and toughness. Due to the black color of carbon, the ceramic further has a slight tendency to take on an achromatic color, so that the ceramic is reduced in color irregularity to exhibit a reduced color difference (?E*ab), color difference indicating a color tone difference. Thus, the invention provides a ceramic for decorative parts which has a desirable golden color and which rarely exhibits a perceptible color tone difference among decorative parts.
