The tank is supported on a shaft 3 so that prior to filtration the contents may be kept away from the filter element. When filtration becomes necessary the tank is tilted to the vertical position (filter 8 undermost), a valve 9 is opened, and the liquid is filtered under the influence of pressure provided, e.g., by admission of a gas by an inlet (not shown) at a previous stage in the operation. The filter element may be fixed instead of removable (as shown), and may be mounted inside the tank.</p> |
