<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication system that uses a radio IC device implementing a small, simple structure, low manufacturing costs, a low power consumption and a high information transmission rate. <P>SOLUTION: The radio communication system includes: the radio IC device including an electromagnetic coupling module 1 comprising a radio IC chip 5 and a feeder circuit board 10, and a radiator 20 adapted to couple with the electromagnetic coupling module 1 when in proximity thereto; and a reader/writer. For example, the electromagnetic coupling module 1 is fixed on a door and the radiator 20 is fixed on a frame member of the door. When the door is closed, the electromagnetic coupling module 1 and the radiator 20 are proximate and coupled to enable communication with the reader/writer.
