PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film having high heat resistance, transparency, optical isotropy, toughness, zero-defect property and less thickness unevenness. SOLUTION: The optical film comprises a thermoplastic resin (A) as a structural component having a glass transition temperature of 120°C or higher, a melt viscosity of 6,000 to 100,000 poise at 260°C at a shear velocity of 12 sec<SP>-1</SP>, and a cyclic structure, and a second component (B) comprising a polymer by 5 to 40 mass%; and the film has a haze value of not more than 1%, b-value of not more than 1, a thickness of 10 to 100μm, less than 0.5 mass% content of a component having a boiling point of 100 or lower, and foreign matter defects having a size of 20μm or larger by less than 20 by number/m<SP>2</SP>.
