A cutting tool comprises a holder 1, a baseplate 3 screwed to the holder at 4, and a tip 2 clamped to plate 3 by clamps 5 and 6. Clamp 6 is releasably clamped to a T-plate 9 by a screw 8, the T-plate being slidable in a T-groove 10 in the holder. The T-plate is secured in the groove by a screw 11. For adjusting the chip breaker width B, screw 8 provided with a ring 17, is loosened to lift clamp 6. Screw 11 is loosened and plate 9 together with clamp 6 is displaced in groove 10. Holes 11a may be provided for screwing screw 11, or in a modification holder 1 and plate 9 have graduations to assist in replacing plate 6 in the correct position. Clamp 6 may have wear pieces 7 welded thereto, or the chip breaker and clamp may be in two parts. Screw 11 may be replaced by a jaw means, and and units 6, 7 may be made entirely of cemented carbide. |
