PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting optical system suitable for an observation optical system having a wide viewing angle, used for an endoscope used in medical or industrial sectors, for example, appropriately distributing light to the side and the back, and small with excellent light distribution property. SOLUTION: Sequentially from a light source, a positive lens, a reflection member, and a negative lens are arranged, or sequentially from the light source, the positive lens, and the reflection member having power are arranged, or sequentially from the light source, a rod lens, the positive lens, the reflection member, and the negative lens, or sequentially from the light source, the rod lens, the positive lens, the reflective member having power, and the negative lens are arranged in the lighting optical system.
