The method involves forming a synthetic time signal from start values of preset sine components during cancellation of one of the sine components, by a terminating iteration process. The time signal consists of a sum of the sine components subtracted from a to-be-analyzed oscillation signal. A parameter of the cancelled sine component is determined from a difference signal. The parameter and the start values are utilized during cancellation of subsequent sine components for formation of the time signal. A number of iteration cycles is determined based on an abort criterion.
