Devices and method for identification and efficient recovery of the information contained in an RFID tag in a steel winding. An identification device comprises a fastening body inside the hollow (3) of a steel winding (1), which is preferably magnetic, and a body for accommodating an RFID tag (4). The reading device includes RFID microantennas (13) arranged on at least one of the claws (9) of a crane grapple (8). The method comprises encoding an RFID tag (4) associated with the corresponding steel winding (1), positioning said RFID tag (4) arranged inside the hollow (3) of a steel winding (1), and reading said RFID tag (4) using RFID microantennas (13) arranged at the end of the claws (9) of a crane grapple.
