A sensor for determining the amount of triglyceride and/or cholesterol in a sample, the sensor comprising: (a) a surfactant of formula (1) wherein each of R, R, R, Rand Ris independently-OH, C-Calkoxy or a group of formula-OCONH(CH)-CH,-OCO(CH)CH, O(CH)-CH,-S(CH)-CH,-O(CH)-A,-S(CH)-A,-OCO(CH)-CHor-NHCO(CH)-CH, wherein m is from 4 to 20, m' is from 4 to 20, m'' is from 4 to 6 or from 8 to 20, n is from 0 to 10 and A is a C-Ccycloalkyl group or a phenyl group, with the proviso that at least one of the groups R, R, R, Rand Ris not-OH or C-Calkoxy; and (b) an enzyme reagent for measuring triglycerides and/or an enzyme reagent for measuring cholesterol.
