<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection preventing layer with excellent scratch resistance and a method for manufacturing the same, and further to provide a plastics lens with the reflection preventing layer formed thereon. <P>SOLUTION: An optical article includes the reflection preventing layer on a substrate, the reflection preventing layer are constructed with nine layers composed of alternately laminated low refractive index layers and high refractive index layers, a layer among the respective refractive index layers constituting the reflection preventing layer, disposed closest to the substrate side, is defined as a first layer, layer ordinal numbers continuously increasing in increments of one are assigned to the respective layers sequentially toward the outside, and an odd numbered layer is set to be the low refractive index layer and an even numbered layer is set to be the high refractive index layer. When the designed dominant wavelength λ<SB>0</SB>is set to be in the range of 480 to 550 nm, and optical film thickness of each refractive index layer is represented by λ<SB>k</SB>(k is the corresponding layer number), inequality (1) or inequality (2) holds, inequality (1): 0.8λ<SB>0</SB>≤λ<SB>1</SB>≤1.2λ<SB>0</SB>, and inequality (2): 0.8λ<SB>0</SB>≤λ<SB>3</SB>≤1.2λ<SB>0</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
