PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clathrate compound which can achieve a p-type thermoelectric conversion material of high electrical conductivity, to provide a thermoelectric conversion material, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: The clathrate compound is substantially represented by composition formula of Ba<SB>8</SB>(Ga<SB>x</SB>, Sn<SB>y</SB>, Sb<SB>z</SB>)<SB>46</SB>(x+y+z=1, 0<x<1, 0<y<1, 0<z<1). It is preferable that Sb/(Ba+Ga+Sn+Sb), which is an atomic ratio of Sb in the clathrate compound, is larger than 0 and smaller than or equal to 0.06. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
