<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement an optical repeater having a wavelength conversion function for use in an optical transmission network, with a simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: The optical repeater includes: a wavelength selection switch which includes an input port for receiving signal light from a first optical transmission network and a plurality of output ports and has a function of outputting signal light at a wavelength arbitrarily selected from a plurality of wavelengths included in the received signal light, from an arbitrary output port; a wavelength multiplexing means which includes a plurality of input ports for receiving signal light and outputs signal light resulting from wavelength multiplexing of signal light respectively inputted to the plurality of input ports, to a second optical transmission network; and at least one wavelength conversion means which is connected between the output ports of the wavelength selection switch and the input ports of the wavelength multiplexing means and subjects signal light outputted from the output ports to wavelength conversion processing and inputs the signal light subjected to wavelength conversion processing, to the input ports. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
