<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a group of phosphors that may be used in a lighting system to generate blue or blue-green light. <P>SOLUTION: A phosphor 22 includes a system having a general formula of: ((Sr<SB>1-z</SB>M<SB>z</SB>)<SB>1-(x+w)</SB>A<SB>w</SB>Ce<SB>x</SB>)<SB>3</SB>(Al<SB>1-y</SB>Si<SB>y</SB>)O<SB>4+y+3(x-w)</SB>F<SB>1-y-3(x-w)</SB>(I), wherein 0<x≤0.10, 0≤y≤0.5, 0≤z≤0.5, 0≤w≤x, A is Li, Na, K, Rb, or Ag or any combinations thereof, and M is Ca, Ba, Mg, Zn, or Sn or any combinations thereof. Advantageously, the phosphor 22 prepared according to the formulations maintains emission intensity across a wide range of temperatures. The phosphor is used in the lighting system, such as LED 10, fluorescent tube, among others, to produce blue and blue/green light.
