<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a corrosive gas from invading in an LED module to keep the intensity of the LED module from falling off for an extended period of time, and simplify the shape of a light guide plate and make it a productive "LED module for a backlight". <P>SOLUTION: The LED module for fixing an LED element, a light guide plate, various optical sheets, LCD, and the like are provided to form an LED module for a backlight that is to guide light from the LED module to the backside of the LCD via a light guide plate. The LED module fixes the LED element onto the FPC, fixes the FPC on a metallic frame so as to promote heat release, and closely seals and insulates the interior of the LED module from the outside by various methods. As this insulation method, a metallic frame for fixing an FPC is formed in an L shape, for example, and a cap of a transparent material is formed in an inverted L shape and put on its top, and is sealed together with the edge parts.
