<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet molding compound capable of easily producing a molded product having excellent mechanical characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The sheet molding compound 1 includes the following: a first-group aggregate 3 which has a width W and a length L, both forming a flat surface P, and the thickness T being very smaller than the width W and the length L and includes fiber flakes 5 and a matrix 6 of a polymer material and in which the distribution direction FR of the maximal tensile strength of each aggregate is randomly distributed in the flat surface P; and at least one second-group aggregate 4 which includes fiber flakes 5 and a matrix 6 of polymer material and in which the distribution direction FR of the maximal tensile strength of each aggregate is distributed mainly in a predetermined direction FB on the flat surface P.
