<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel control device for enabling a driver to maintain a state of quickly responding to braking in follow-up control. <P>SOLUTION: A travel control device 1 is provided with an ECU 2 (Electronic Control Unit). A touch sensor 3 which detects contact between a brake pedal 11 and a foot of a driver, a navigation system 5, and a camera 8 are connected to the ECU 2. The ECU 2 determines a travel environment based on each of road information and an image signal transmitted from the navigation system 5 and the camera 8. Then, when a vehicle travels on a narrow road, or there exists an obstacle ahead of the vehicle, the ECU 2 transmits a control signal to an engine control part 9 and a brake control part 10 so that the vehicle follows a preceding vehicle on condition that the contact between the brake pedal 11 and the foot of a driver is detected by the touch sensor 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
