PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clamping device in an index device for a machine tool capable of indexing optional angle and obtaining high rigidity and clamp torque. SOLUTION: The clamping device includes a clamp part non-rotatable with respect to a main shaft, and a pressing mechanism allowing fluid pressure applied to a clamp piston displaceable in the axial direction of the main shaft to act on the clamp part, and secures an indexed angular position of the main shaft. In the clamping device, the clamp part includes a first clamp part relatively non-rotatable with respect to the main shaft and a second clamp part rotating with the main shaft, the pressing mechanism includes a first pressing part pressing the first clamp part and a second pressing part pressing the second clamp part, and when the clamp piston is reciprocated by the fluid pressure, elastic displacement is generated in the second clamp part or the second pressing part, and axial force is applied on the first clamp part and radial force of the main shaft is applied on the second clamp part, then a rotating shaft is clamped.
