<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which is robust to system instability, in acquisition of a magnetic resonance signal of J<SB>HH</SB>-coupled<SP>1</SP>H, dispenses with phase adjustment of a high frequency magnetic field pulse, can prevent complicating of resulting spectra, and is resistant to signal loss by an error of a flip angle or high frequency magnetic field distribution. Ž<P>SOLUTION: After a first high frequency magnetic pulse is applied, a first frequency selective irradiation pulse is applied to<SP>1</SP>H J<SB>HH</SB>-coupled with desired<SP>1</SP>H to generate a multiple quantum coherence between<SP>1</SP>Hs, and a second high frequency magnetic pulse is successively applied. Thereafter, a second frequency selective irradiation pulse is applied to the<SP>1</SP>H J<SB>HH</SB>-coupled with desired<SP>1</SP>H to generate a single quantum coherence of the desired<SP>1</SP>H. A gradient magnetic field pulse is applied in the period of the multiple quantum coherence and a period just before data collection, and only a desired coherence is selected to collect the magnetic resonance signal of the desired<SP>1</SP>H.
