ORGANIC ELECTROLUMINESCENT DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an impact from electrostatic discharge. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A substrate 10 is prepared that includes a display area 12 and a peripheral region 14 that encircles the display area 12. The display area 12 is formed with a plurality of pixel electrodes 16 and a plurality of thin-film transistors 18 corresponding to the pixel electrodes 16. The peripheral region 14 is formed with drive circuits 20 for driving the thin-film transistors 18 and with an organic material film 24 for covering the thin-film transistors 18 and drive circuits 20. A bank 26 for encircling at least a portion of each of the plurality of pixel electrodes 16 is formed of an organic material. A luminous layer 30 is each formed within a plurality of regions encircled by the bank 26 and above the plurality of pixel electrodes 16. Counter electrodes 32 are formed above the plurality of pixel electrodes 16 and above the luminous layers 30.
