<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent noise that accompanies the driving of a recording medium in a fixed time recording mode for recording the moving images, with respect to a request for a predetermined time. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The images taken by imaging and the sound picked up through a microphone 18 are compression-coded and stored in the buffer memory 24. Sufficient recording time is set so as to store all the coded data recorded during the recording time in the buffer memory 24. After the imaging past the recording time is elapsed, the data is transferred to the recording medium 30 from the buffer memory 24, by supplying power to the drive system of the recording medium 30. In a continuous recording mode for finishing recording by the user's command to stop recording, the coded data is transferred to the recording medium 30 from the buffer memory 24, each time the ratio of the buffer memory 24 in use reaches a certain value.
