PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the generation of misinformation caused by the fact that maintenance operation is performed for an object to be inspected, in such a configuration that the failures of the object to be inspected are predicted on the basis of the result of determining whether or not peculiar motion is taken with respect to the past behavior, on useful prediction information. SOLUTION: In a failure prediction device 120 determining whether or not the failures occur soon on the process unit of a color image forming apparatus being the object to be inspected, on the basis of the useful prediction information such as a P-value, a Q-value and an R-value obtained on the process unit, when maintenance information obtained on the process unit shows the execution of the maintenance operation, it is determined that the failures have not occurred yet, regardless of the behavior of the useful prediction information on the process unit, for a fixed period after th maintenance operation.
