<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine an abnormality in at least one of a light emitting section and a transmission line. <P>SOLUTION: An abnormality determination apparatus includes an image forming means that includes a light source provided with L pieces of the light emitting sections which are arranged in a first direction and each turned on/off based on image information transmitted through transmission lines and that forms an image by scanning the light radiated from the light source in a second direction which crosses with the first direction. The image forming means is controlled so that a plurality of detected images in which scanned sections composed of adjacent m rows of lines and unscanned sections which are not scanned and equivalent to adjacent n rows of lines are arranged adjacently in a first direction are formed adjacently in the first direction. Then, respective boundaries for the formed detected images or boundaries between respective scanned sections and the unscanned sections in the detected image are detected. Next, when an abnormal cycle in which the difference with the predetermined cycle exceeds a predetermined range is included in the detection cycle, it is determined that an abnormality has ocurred to at least one of the light emitting section and the transmission line, wherein L is an integer of two or more, m and n are positive integers and L and m+n are coprime to each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
