PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inertial force traveling method and inertial force traveling device for a vehicle that can travel while neutral and SD ranges are alternately repeated. SOLUTION: The inertial force traveling method for the vehicle, in the case of a neutral range shift position of an automatic transmission 8, changes the shift position from the neutral range to an SD range as a super-drive range having a smaller gear ratio than D and OD ranges as an accelerator pedal 3 is pressed, in the case of the SD range shift position, changes the shift position to the neutral range as the accelerator pedal 3 is released, and in the case of the neutral or SD range shift position, changes the shift position to a previous D or OD range as a brake pedal 5 is pressed.
