PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the decrease in the temperature of a molding die during driving of a core die to obtain a high-precision optical device. SOLUTION: A molding apparatus 1 using a molding die 10 to mold an optical device by pressing a thermoplastic material 9 by a core die 11 moving in a die sleeve, comprises a lower heating block 15 and an upper heating block 16 to heat the molding die 10, a pin member 14 housed in a housing space 15c in the lower heating block 15 and pressing the core die 11, and a drive shaft 17b to drive the pin member 14. The tip end of the drive shaft 17b is arranged separate from the pin member 14 except during molding. Thereby, the decrease in the temperature of the molding die is prevented by pressing of the pressing shaft, and a sufficient deformation amount of the thermoplastic material during molding is secured.
