<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mode synchronous laser device for outputting ultrashort pulses, which is reduced in size and cost, and improved in operation stability. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The mode synchronous laser device 10 is provided with: a resonator in which an SESAM (semiconductor saturable absorption mirror) 14 and a negative distribution mirror 20 for controlling group speed distribution within the resonator are arranged linearly; a solid laser medium 16 which is arranged in the resonator and outputs oscillation light when supplied with excitation light; an excitation optical system 12 which causes the excitation light to enter the solid laser medium 16; and a resonator holder 34 wherein a light incidence surface of SESAM 14 is attached on one end side, and the negative distribution mirror 20 is attached on the other end side.
