<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for further saving electric power while avoiding reduction in convenience and productivity of the image forming apparatus as much as possible. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus includes a sleep flag holding section 66 formed of nonvolatile memory for holding a sleep flag showing that electric power supply to a finisher 6 is stopped by transition to sleep mode when it occurs, and an initializing flag holding section 67 for holding an initializing flag showing that the initializing operation of the finisher 6 is performed by turn on of a main power supply of the image forming apparatus when it occurs. When the sleep flag is held in the sleep flag holding section 66 at the time of turn on of the main power supply, an electric power supply control section 12 keeps the sleep mode until it is required to be switched to normal mode. If the initializing flag is held in the initializing flag holding section 67 at the time of transition to the normal mode, an initializing operation control section 13 prohibits the initializing operation by the finisher 6.
