<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying chlorine-based hydrocarbon by separating organic acid esters and alcohols from a mixed solution containing the chlorine-based hydrocarbon recovered from a resin production process, provided that the organic acid esters and alcohols have boiling points close to that of the chlorine-based organic hydrocarbon and form azeotropic mixtures with the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The organic acid esters existing as impurities in the chlorine hydrocarbon recovered from the resin production process is hydrolyzed into organic acids and alcohols in the presence of a solid acid catalyst, and the chlorine-based hydrocarbon is separated from the alcohols and the organic acids through distillation and subsequently extracted with water to be reused as a solvent for resin production.
